HONKY European Tour postponed ’til Nov. 06
attention all you kind peoples.
it is my unfortunate duty to announce the postponement HONKY’s slated European Tour.
we are told November of this year shall be when we arrive across the pond to play some shows with DOZER, a band already located on the other side of the pond.
we are still very much anticipating the chance to shake some european booties and sell lots of whatever it is they drink over there to the masses.
until then we will spend our offtime working with Bono, Willie, and Angelina to make this world a better place.............or we might just take a nap.

HONKY NEW YEARS - Update ’ 06
Hope all of y’alls new years went smooth. Mine rolled right on by. The skies have been blue, the temp.’s been perfect (i spray old, various, aerosol cans outside to ensure we get our share of global warming benefits), and fire’s are still blazing all around us. This new year also brings us some changes. We amicably parted ways with Kenny ’ Hand Cuff ’ Wagner in hopes he can persue his brazillion waxing business and stand up comedy career. He’s always a welcome member of the HONKY Alumni. We would like to also welcome Mr. Justin Collins of Little Rock, AR down here to Austin. He will be joining us on skins starting this friday (1/13/06) out at the Continental Club here in Austin during the Tattoo Revival Convention. We’re fortunate enough to be playing with the likes of Scotty Biram and the Weary Boys (who’s c.d. ’Good Times’ has been a long term resident of my disc player) that evening. Original Honky Lance Farley will grace us with his presence for a few songs.
Which brings me to a rumour i heard about a 10 years of HONKY - HONKYVERSARY. Carson has accepted an invitation to play a full set with Mr. Farley and myself. Following will be a second set with Bobby Ed, Justin, and myself w/ maybe some other guests as well. We’re hoping to document this event for a DVD release. We’re shooting for March 24th (Austin) and March 25th (Houston). More details will follow. We have a full schedual of shows and touring starting the end of this month with Nashville Pussy. We hit 100 shows from Sept. thru Dec. last year. We plan on a similar schedual this year so hopefully well hit a majority of states. We’re working on going over the big water in May, we’d like to see that happen since we haven’t had a chance to bring HONKY over there. Thanks for taking the time to check out the info. Its been a while since a news update’s gone down and there’s definitely news to be told. Here’s to hopin’ this is a better year then 1983.

Special note from Neckbone, web master and erstwhile Honkifarian: I can’t tell y’all enough how excited I am about the impending ten-year anniversary show. What it is is ten years since our first official practice (3/24/96). I just wanna say much much much thanks to JD and Carson for wanting to do this....I couldn’t believe their enthusiasm when I brought the possibility up. Everybody better come to these shows, because between this, Castle Siege (my current band) and being 44 years young, I don’t know how long it is before I switch to playing keyboards and crooning in a jazz club. Neck out.

A note here....Pinkus called me earlier today to inform everyone that Nashville Pussy’s equipment truck flipped over...the result being that NP has cancelled the rest of their dates on the tour. Honky will still be appearing at the dates, however, but there might be some changes...so keep checking the Show Dates page for that info.........

Hey, it’s web master Lance (not related to 50 Cent) saying the site’s on a new server now (that’s why the site was offline fer a day)....so expect a shopping cart for merch within a month or so. There’ll also be some mp3s, maybe a video, you know...hell for you people with dial-up. But it’ll be a little while....got lotsa sites to build right now...folks keeping me busy. Later ons...........

well well. for those of you (all three of you not including myself) anxiously awaiting the release of our album we have some news.
the album ’balls out inn’ has been delayed for release due to a couple of reasons. we plan on adding the videos to the c.d. rom making this a multi-media release. the videos will be on local video shows within a week, hopefully as well as an mp3 posting on our site. we’re in the midst of planning a release party for march now as opposed to february.
we’ve had some nice regional shows since returning from tour, including 2 special guest appearences from lance ’neckbone’ farley on vocals, playing songs we weren’t able to throw down without him.
for those of y’all in town for the cornvention we’re happy to inform y’all of jeff shea’s speedy recovery. he has honky artwork prepared for a project we’re planning for soon. one project at a time seems to keep us plenty busy i suppose.
we will be traveling to the west coast come end of february for the live fast tattoo and hotrod convention in san diego. we’re planning the rest of the shows to go with it now. once again sorry for the delay of our genlemanly rock. hope to see you at the shows.

More work to do...more work to do. Honky has returned from another triumphant west coast tour.....looks like the east coast will be in April. SXSW is coming up, along with other Texas shows to keep you entertained for awhile.

Still working on the new look for the site.....added something called "Classic Lyrics" on the Photos n Posters page. Yes, it’s our original scribblings trying to make up songs. You probably won’t be able to read them, but you can feel the good taste just oozing through the screen while you look at ’em.

No news for almost five months? Well, there’s some now........hang on to yer hats..........Honky’s comin’ to your town soon. Kenny Wagner has joined the band on drums (replacing the not-really-old-but-able-to-pay-his-bills Lance Farley). The band hits the road in October with Dixie Witch, heading east before moving to the midwest. Check the Show Dates page for updates............
And, hell, Lance’ll still be around....doing the web page....crashing the local shows with some two-drummer mayhem, maybe......singing as only Danny from Southern Gun Culture says he can’t......you can’t get rid of me that easily!!!!!!

Back from Costa Rica, SXSW is finished.....time to rest up a bit? No way! Honky’s gearing up for some shows around Texas, starting with March 21st at the Axiom in Houston. Stay tuned to the Show Dates page!

Oh yes, the benefits/auction at Flamingo Cantina and Emo’s on the 14th and 15th raised over $5,000 to help Joel’s family with bills and funeral expenses! Thanks so much everyone for what you’re doing....it’s simply amazing.

Again, thanks to everybody for contributing to and attending the recent benefits for Handsome Joel’s family (2/14 at Flamingo Cantina and 2/15 at Emo’s). I’ll post figures up here whenever I get the amounts raised. Joel’s family was in attendance at Emo’s last night, and they are very appreciative of everything everybody has done during this trying time. Our friends Syrup made a special appearance, borrowing some gear and thoroughly rocking the house. They played a special song composed for the occasion, "Lover of the Ladies." Damn, what a night......

Thanks to all of y’all for coming out last night to the Red-Eyed Fly! ALL the bands donated their proceeds to the cause, raising over $1300 for Joel’s family. Dixie Witch closed out their set with a rendition of "Dear Mr. Fantasy," featuring our JD on vocals and Bobby Ed on guitar. The last song of the night was "Free Bird," with Dixie Witch’s Trinidad Leal on drums and Clayton Mills on slide guitar. What a night; one I’ll never forget.
Future benefits are going to be held....the next one Feb 9th at Room 710 in Austin.

Tonight will be a tough one, but the bands will be playing with heads held high for Handsome Joel. Dixie Witch and Honky have agreed that their monies from tonight will go to Joel’s family. All future benefits for Joel’s family will be posted on the Show Dates page regardless if we can play or not. Lance also has a Premier six-piece drum set for sale, proceeds of which will go to Joel’s family as well. E-mail Lance for details if you’re interested..........

Thus far, there are benefits for Handsome Joel’s family planned at Emo’s on Feb 15th and Beerland on Feb 20th. Word is there will be future benefits at Room 710 and Elysium as well. The Emo’s benefit on the 15th will include an auction of some of Handsome Joel’s possessions, including CDs, records and posters. We hope to see you all there then, and we’ll keep you posted on this news page.

It’s a sad day for the music world.....Handsome Joel Svatek, longtime friend of many a Texas band (several times touring with us) and keeper of the rock flame in Austin for many years has passed on. His car was struck by a drunk driver on Sunday night, and he was pronounced dead this evening. We’re all still shaken and stunned by this event, but a proper memorial will find its way to our website soon. Words fail me now.......

Well, thanks to all the folks who came out to see us last night! Another show with me (Lance) behind the kit....until someone’s interested in being a touring machine, that’s how it’ll stand. I did fall off the stage last night (twice--I wasn’t even drunk) and have a hyperextended knee to deal with for a while. See, age does these things to you, and makes you realize you want to rock even more. Anyway, I’m hobbling around today thinking how I can’t wait for the next one......thanks again for sharing some holiday time with us!!!

Just thought I’d update the news a little bit.....playing a benefit for Radio KAOS tonight at Emo’s--we’re going on around 10:30-10:45. These benefit shows are fun...no telling what we’ll do at it....maybe one thirty minute version of Simple Man!! Lance has been "filling in" until a new drummer is found. In other words, business as usual!!! We’re shooting for touring in the springtime....until then, shows on the Show Dates page will have to suffice. We’ll see y’all soon.....

Okay, since I’m the webmaster, I decided to put the "News" here! Makes sense, don’t it?
The next Honky show, this Saturday the 28th at Room 710, will be my last withthe band. (Original guitarist Carson Vester will be making a guest appearance as well.) After six and a half great years, I’ve decided to honor my responsibilities and become more of a homebody. My not wanting to tour for long periods won’t work for this band (I mean, Honky’s built for the road!), so the only acceptable answer is for me to leave the band. This is all an amicable parting of the ways; I’ll still be yer friendly webmaster here, so you’ll hear from me off and on. J.D. and Bobby will be in your town very soon with a newer (maybe younger) model behind the kit. I’ve got a couple of other bands here in town keeping me rocking.....
So, hey, stay lean and mean, and I’ll see you all over the next hill.

Welllll.....the big news is there’s been a change in the band you’ll see when the guys are on tour. Greg Main (of Houston) will be behind the drum kit on the upcoming tour (as well as a farewell show at the Red-Eyed Fly in Austin). A better explanation (as well as a news story) will be coming soon....let’s just say Lance was involved in a bizarre accident involving being somewhere at the WRONG TIME!! He’s gonna be okay...it’s just going to take some time to regain the use of most of his bodily functions. No charges will be pressed against the Video Megaplexxx. Anyway, we wish Bobby, Jeff and Greg well on the tour....buy their stuff (especially since Lance’s cut will be going toward medical bills and the cost of unsticking him from the floor). Bye fer now!!!!

It’s been awhile since the last News update, so here goes.....we’ve got several local and regional shows coming up....as well as...(drumroll)...a big US/Canada tour in July withReverendHorton Heat & Nashville Pussy!!!! J D gets back Tuesday for a month and a half....we’ll be finishing the writing of our next album (tentatively titled "Put Your Monkey Where Your Mouth Is"). Come see us at the Triple Crown in San Marcos this Thursday (new tunes, we promise!!).........and for those of you in Houston, Saturday December 15th is the date of our return to Rudyard’s with Dixie Witch and Transmaniacon MC!!!!

Bobby and I are back from Arizona....the shows went great....and we recorded three new songs out there (Buckle Bunny, Gittin It and Plugs, Mugs and Jugs)!! Buckle Bunny hasn’t been played live yet; we’ll debut that at the Triple Crown in San Marcos on November 29th (mark them calendars...). J D will be back in Texas for the month of December, and we’re gonna finish writing the next album during that time (and play, yes, New Year’s Eve at Room 710 in Austin)!! Talk to ya later!
